" I am 76 years old and have led a life of education, both learned and taught, and athletics. I developed a love for long distance running and it became my access to stress relief and the ability to empty my mind and enter a place of mindlessness and calm. However, over the years I have caused some critical physical issues. Three knee arthroscopic surgeries. Two major cervical spine discectomy surgeries. I have now been diagnosed with a rather mild pain with my lumbar spine. Do not be concerned as I would not take back one mile of my adventure. Now to db Orthopedic PT. My first visit for evaluation was Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The staff and center are light and airy and the professionalism is wonderful. I can be trusted as I have had extensive physical therapy through my running and sport activities which began at age 9 and continue to this day. I met Alyssa Baez PT, DPT for an extensive evaluation and examination followed by an introduction to some of the exercise work we would be doing together. Ms. Baez was totally focused on my explanation of my pain and lifestyle and interjected with succinct questions and explanations which were so very useful to me. She prepared a visit schedule which fit my schedule and my needs. My pain doctor recommended db Orthopedic PT and I am so pleased wit his acumen. I will be going twice a week to the Manalapan facility and Alyssa Baez was so very confident that she and the staff will be able to get this rather active septuagenarian back on my elliptical device and my other physical activities as well as targeted exercises I will do at home. Please excuse my loquaciousness, I am known for that trait just ask my wife, but I strongly recommend the consideration of db Orthopedic PT for their expertise and true concern for anyone who is in pain and walks through their doors. "The staff at DBOrtho has become an extended family to us! After my daughter suffered a serious concussion, we began seeing Dr. Marisa Priolo. Marisa was the most amazing physical therapist we have ever worked with. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, but she communicated with me consistently to help in my daughter's journey, she advocated for her in her school and extra-curriculars, and worked very closely with her team of doctors for her plan of action. Every visit was planned out to not only help in recovery, but to keep my pre-teen daughter engaged and happy to be there. The rapport that she established made my daughter feel comfortable and like she had a big sister in Marisa. She trusted her and felt confident with her. Throughout the time my daughter worked with Marisa, she learned how to strengthen her body to also prevent future injury and gained back confidence in dancing, sports, and academics, that was diminished with her concussion. "I had a total knee replacement done on December 1, 2023. I also have severe stenosis of my lower back a history of 30 years. Dr. David Colella worked with me three times a week after the knee replacement. The progress I made was remarkable. I was able to walk so much better that I was able to go back to the gym four weeks postop. My stenosis and sciatica became a problem which it has been at time severe. I have been to physical therapy for over 30 years for my back. I have never had such remarkable progress and such positive professional treatment as I have had with Dr. Colella and his staff at DB Physical Therapy in Red Bank. "Over the years I've had to undergo various physical therapy treatments with several physical therapists in three different states. I would rank db Ortho PT at the top of all of them. Some reasons: 1) The Red Bank office was clean, bright and airy. 2) The physical therapists and assistants I observed were very caring, especially for the older patients that need significant assistance. 3) Appointments were easy to schedule. 4) My specific physical therapist, Dr. Kelly Haspel-Gutkes, diagnosed and treated both problems I had with much success. Over the course of more than 15 visits for two separate issues, I found her professional yet friendly with explanations of each visit's treatments. She made it very easy to ask questions and always spent the time necessary to answer and explain. I actually looked forward to my appointments. Should it become necessary for more physical therapy, I will return to db Ortho PT without hesitation."

"Over the last 4 years I have used a number of physical therapy practices with varying levels of results. When the time came this fall to go back to PT I asked my doctor for a referral and he recommended db Orthopedic Physical Therapy. I called their Red Bank office, made an appointment, and was assigned to Matthew Duncan. On my first visit we discussed my issues and concerns and he and I embarked on an 11 week course of therapy. My issues related to a stiff and painful lower back which remained post lower lumbar fusion surgery. Matt was an excellent clinician working to determine how to release the musculature that I had ended up with after surgery and a career sitting behind a desk. Using heat, manipulation and a changing course of exercise, Matt was the first PT person to make a significant change in my condition. I would highly recommend Matt and the whole db Orthopedic practice. If and when further PT is warranted, Matt and Co will be on speed dial. "

"I have been a client of dB Ortho during the last few years for 2 hip repacement sessions (one with Kelly) and most recently a shoulder replacement also with Kelly. She was great with both. I progressed speedily with mobility and strength because of the in-house and at-home exercises she prescribed. Kelly was also great at her massage treatments on my shoulder and arm to keep them limber. I would highly reccomend Kelly for both hip and shoulder replacement treatments. "I went here for PT to my injured ankle. The ankle was very painful and even a slightest overuse would result in swelling and pain that would last for at least 2 weeks. I was very much worried about PT after hearing some stories from friends. I was referred to this place from a friend, and Jessica has been the Wonder Woman with magical hands. Right after the 1st visit I see good improvement and swelling never returned. Now I am almost 80% back to normal and taking a break to see if I can continue to see the improvements just with at home exercises. The whole staff has been great. "Over the last 2 months I have worked with Matt Ducan to repair and strengthen my Torn Pec which was surgically repaired. "I have been treated by DB Physical Therapy, over the past 5 months, for two unrelated issues. One, was injuries resulting from falls off of a ladder, insuring my left shoulder. The second was for balance issues, the cause of which could have been from multiple cumulative causes. In each case Dr. Bertone personally evaluated my 'injuries' and prescribed a course of treatment of therapy and exercise, administered by himself and/or one of his capable licensed staff of doctors and assistants. His staff also tracked at-home exercises which were prescribed by Dr. Bertone. "My name is Jake Scire and I am 29 years old. I had 2 microdiscectomies in 2022 related to problems with my S1 & L5 lower spine area. I was in extreme pain and was actually losing function in my left leg/calf, and unable to stand up straight. After my second emergency surgery I came for physical therapy at DB Ortho to work on my back and nerve damage to my leg. I had the pleasure of working with Marisa and received outstanding care for my recovery. Marisa's positive attitude, great massage, and warm personality took the anxiety out of this process. I had a major fear / avoidance of doing anything that could possibly re-injure my back, but after 10 weeks of working with Marisa I can say my fear is gone and my back/leg are feeling very strong. I still do my at home exercises a few times a week, and maintain an active lifestyle and job. Marisa was very patient with me, and we took our time working towards more challenging exercises. Eventually I was able to reach a point where my back, leg, and core felt strong and also stable. I will always do my part, and hope for the best as time progresses. "I can’t say enough about Dave Colella and the entire professional team, including the scheduling and billing team. The team operates like a well-oiled machine. The next PT event is setup before you complete the previous one. It all started with a monthly email newsletter Dave Bertone sent out containing a youtube link discussing the differences between anatomical and reverse total shoulder replacements, recovery time and rehab expectations. Based on the youtube discussion, I make an appointment with the doctor in the video to further discuss which turned into getting a reverse total shoulder replacement. I've been to a few in the past few years, and I can honestly say that their facility and staff, led by Jerry are simply the best. I came here in May to start physical therapy on my right foot. I had a Tenjet procedure to take out partially torn Achilles tendon. Jerry came up with a plan to get me in shape to be able to walk properly and eventually play tennis (a sport that I played year around prior to my surgery). "I came to the Lincroft location with a severe case of sciatica. It was painful and depressing. After 7 weeks of PT I am essentially back to doing everything I did before the sciatica. "My knee hurt for some time & my chiropractor gave me relief, until finally he said time to get an orthopedic doctor & an MRI. I quickly visited an orthopedist who prescribed Celebrex and PT. A few days later, my knee gave out completely with a POP. Unable to get the ortho dr on the phone and in excruciating pain, I went to the ER. There I was told to go home on crutches (I am 63!) and offered “really powerful” painkillers by a snickering PA. No solution was offered as to what the sudden pop was nor why the leg would now no longer extend. Not even an x-ray was offered. Since I could not be safe at home, (falling risk), I Iaid in the hospital bed for 2 days & was finally given 1 X-ray & a bill for $21,000!!! A nightmare! Dr. Marisa Priolo was very comprehensive in her PT plan to get me back to normal, very patient, and very caring about my recovery. "My Orthopedic doctor advised I get physical therapy for recurring back and leg pain. My Podiatrist and Cardiologist both ruled out circulation problems through testing. I chose db Orthopedics, since they treated me for recovering from miniscus surgery to my knee in 2012. Dr Kelly Haspel recommended I get an MRI, which showed arthritis in my lower back. "I have been to many Orthopedic/PT facilities, all with some success, and many with minimal success. DB Orthopedic Physical Therapy has been the most effective facility that I have ever been to, WHY? First of all they care for you when you check -in. I mean, actually care. Secondly. the staff checks you out: any issues, problems, etc. Then, they set you up; not just sit and wait, but they get you where you are going to begin your therapy session. From then on the care is amazing: Why are you here, what is the issue, where does it hurt, or bother you, etc? Then a qualified therapist talks to you, begins an initial check, and then starts an initial physical manipulation. From then on, you are are in very caring hands; physically, and mentally. They guide you through what they are doing, and what they expect you are to do. When I first started going for therapy, I still had issues with dizziness and memory. Balance was a big issue for me. I was uncomfortable in social settings, because I had trouble managing them when there was too much activity/conversation around me. Dr. Deak, assistant Layla, and the staff at db Ortho immediately made me feel comfortable and helped me build my confidence. With the visual and balance exercises that Dr. Deak worked with me on, I improved and regained my confidence. Most of the issues that occurred due to my fall subsided. "I asked my doctor who he would recommend for PT after my disc replacement and back fusion surgery. He said he typically didn't give out recommendations, but in my case he wanted to make sure I went to someone he knew had a lot of success treating my issues. He thought Dr. Dave Bertone would be the best to help me overcome the damage that the disc had caused by pressing into my nerve. I had a dropped foot and a very weak piriformis muscle. On top of that my back hurt from the surgery itself. Dave and his team did an amazing job treating me. The program addressed all of my issues and changed as I progressed. "So when I first went for PT I hadn’t used my arm in over year and half. I needed shoulder replacement due to torn rotator cuff and rheumatoid arthritis that destroyed my shoulder. I was In a lot of pain but Marisa was wonderful, determined to help me get back to normal. The whole office is very friendly and caring, feels like a family. With Marisa’s help I am able to wash my hair, lift my arm up, put things away on upper shelves and a lot more without pain. I went to see my ortho doc today. "I began at db ortho lincroft for capsulitis or frozen shoulder almost 5 weeks ago. I couldn’t raise my right arm, wash my hair, reach into my back pocket or pretty much perform any movement at all. Marisa addresses pain and discomfort issues with me both inside and out, and I always feel I am being heard and treated in a highly intuitive and intelligent manner. "I had a full tear of my rotator cuff in my dominant shoulder. This surgery was very challenging and I was not prepared to have no use of my should and most of my arm. I saw Jessica in Manalapan 5 days post surgery. I hadn't slept in days and was in a fair amount of pain. I had no idea what she would do, or how she would do anything since I was unable to move the affected area. She was gentle, welcoming and provided a strong amount of encouragement. She told me it would take a period of time to get back to normal, but she would be with me every step of the way. She was correct and slowly I made progress. Little things, like shaving, brushing my teeth, all got easier as she devised a plan for me to challenge and improve the suctioning of my shoulder. I am six months post-op and I "graduated" from PT. I owe so much of my progress to Jessica and her team. She knew exactly what to do, how to push, how to encourage, how to back off, and how to make me look forward to going to PT. All of this during COVID and the necessary precautions that we all had to follow. A previous patient and friend of a family member recommended me to Dr. Jerry Moczerniuk for the challenging physical therapy that was in front of me and I couldn't be happier for that guidance. What was a dire situation back in May is now a feeling of extreme gratitude here in January. "In June of 2018 I had surgery to repair my shattered elbow that sustained a comminuted fracture (the bone shatters into three or more pieces) which had left the tricep tendon and the bone it was attached to completely broken off from the elbow. A couple days after surgery and almost 10 days after the break I was left with an elbow joint that had lost over 70% of its range of motion. After a couple weeks of doing light range of motion exercises on my own and quite honestly being a little hesitant to get too aggressive with moving the elbow I reached out to Dr. Bertone as a result of him being highly recommended by my Chiropractor. After an initial phone conversation with Dr. Bertone (Big Dave) explaining the injury and my desire to regain full range of motion I had an initial consultation in his office. Given the severity of the injury and the apparent stubbornness of elbow joints, Dr. Bertone was very clear as to the likely length of time it was going to take to regain joint mobility as well as the fact that our success together was very dependent on my willingness to "do the hard work" to get back to as close to full range as possible. I am very please to say that after roughly 5 months of visits combined with guidance on how to supplement in-office care with routine work at home I have regained nearly 100% of the range of motion in the injured joint. While there is still work to be done to get that last few percent I can honestly say I am 100% fully functional. Make no mistake, physical therapy for a severely injured joint is no walk in the park. Your recovery is as much dependent upon you doing the hard work as it is having quality care from a seasoned professional such as Dr. Bertone. That said, Big Dave sets a path that is tailored to your needs that both makes treatment as comfortable as possible while still progressing with positive and measurable results. You will be held accountable for sure and while the term "tough love" may be cliche, it is used by Dr. Bertone and his staff because they are truly invested in your recovery. While Dr. Bertone is second to none in my opinion as an individual professional, his practice is made that much better by a supporting staff that is second to none as well. Whether I was interacting with Chelsea or Allison at the front desk for scheduling or insurance related issues, being cared for by either Marissa, Nicole, Helene, or Mia (apologies if I misspelled anyone's name) pre and post treatment by Big Dave, or treated on occasion by Dr. Collel (smaller, younger, better looking Dave) or even part-timer Burgette when she was filling in for Big Dave, it was evident that this team of individuals cared about you and were fully invested in helping you achieve your goal of full recovery. Without hesitation I would recommend Dr. Bertone and his practice to anyone that requires therapy to remedy a surgically repaired injury or any other ailment in an attempt to avoid surgery or simply have a better quality of life. The variety of methods used throughout the therapy sessions, which included heat, ultra-sound, massage and manipulation, floor exercises, equipment-aided exercises, and lumbar traction, as well as the rigorous, but gentle at-home exercises, all were instrumental in providing a comprehensive and thorough physical therapy program. "I am a eighty four year old person who wants to play pickleball for both exercise and competition. I had my left knee replaced in 2014 and my right hip replaced six months later. I tried numerous physical therapy centers in the greater Manasquan area. The results -- no improvement. I was ready to give up my dreams of playing pickleball again with friends and competitively. As I was perusing the Asbury Park Press in early January, 2018, I read with interest a physical therapy program in Middletown, New jersey. It was a hands on program run by Dr. David Bertone in Middletown, New Jersey. I went to see Dr. Bertone. He felt he could help me if I were willing to push myself a bit harder than I had done in previous therapies. I began my journey on January 10, 2018. I was introduced to Electrical stimulation to both knees and thighs. I received manual physical therapy to my legs, knees and upper thighs. The professionals worked hard and I tried to imitate their professionalism and caring. During the middle of the month of April, Dr. Bertone explained he and his staff had reached a point where I had to continue my own physical therapy. I do exercises to develop strength, endurance and range of motion. I am on my own and feel the strength and endurance that left me four years ago.
